Tabs

Tabs provide a way for you to organize your recipes within your cookbook. Tabs can include your recipes or recipes shared with you. Currently, you are limited to 5 tabs in addition to the default ones created, "My recipes", "Favorites", and "Shared".

Default Tabs

There are three tabs created by default. They are the following:

My Recipes

This tab will include every recipe you create. This is the only tab that cannot contain recipes that other users have made. The only way to add or remove recipes from this tab is to create or delete recipes.

Favorites

This tab will include every recipe that you have liked. You can like a recipe by clicking the outlined heart icon on the view recipe page. If the icon is solid and not outlined, you have already liked the recipe. Clicking a solid heart icon will remove the like and the recipe from the favorites tab.

Shared

Any recipe shared with you will appear in this tab. If you access a recipe that was not explicitly shared with you, you will also see that recipe appear in this tab.

Custom Tabs

Custom tabs allow you to organize your recipes however you choose. Recipes can be added to one or multiple different tabs. Tabs may include recipes you've created or recipes shared with you.

Creating Tabs

You are able to create your own tabs in one of two ways.

  1. Hover over the area underneath the tabs listed in your cookbook section. If you have not met the tab limit, you should see a dash outline of an oval. Clicking this will allow you to type the name of the tab you would like to create. To save this new tab, click "Enter" on your keyboard. To cancel click outside of the oval with your mouse.
  2. In the "Settings" page, navigate to "Preferences". Under the tabs, you should be able to click the "Add Tab" button. Enter you tab's name and click the "Add" button to create the tab.

Adding Recipes to Tabs

There are two ways to add recipes to custom tabs.

From the Cookbook Page

Click on the 3 vertical dots to open the recipe's action menu. Click on the "Tabs" button. This will open a modal listing your custom tabs. From this list you can select the tabs you wish to put the recipe in. If the box beside the tab is selected, the recipe is in that tab. Any changes on this screen are saved automatically.

From the View Recipe Page

Click on the circle with a "+" icon to the right of the recipe image. This will open a modal listing your custom tabs. From this list you can select the tabs you wish to put the recipe in. If the box beside the tab is selected, the recipe is in that tab. Any changes on this screen are saved automatically.

Reordering Tabs

You can change the order in which your tabs appear on the cookbook page within your settings page. Navigate the to "Preferences" tab in the settings page. By clicking and dragging on the 6 dots beside the tabs' names, you can reorder the tabs within your account. Your changes here are automatically saved. After changing the order of your tabs, and going back to your Cookbook page you should see the tabs reflecting this new order.

Deleting a tab

You can delete a tab at anytime. Deleting a tab does not delete the recipes within the tab, it just removes the fact that the recipe is in the tab, and deletes the tab itself. Deleting a tab can be done in two ways:

From the Cookbook Page

On the Cookbook page, navigate to the tab you wish to delete. Click the settings icon to the right of the tab name. This opens a settings modal. Click on the "Delete" button within this modal. On the popup, click "OK" to continue to deleting, or click "Cancel" to cancel the deletion.

From the Settings Page

On the settings page navigate to the preferences. There is a trash can icon next to your custom tabs. You can delete the tab by clicking the trash can and confirming on the popup.

Sharing a Custom Tab

You can share your custom tabs just like you can with recipes! To do so, navigate to the tab on the cookbook page. From there click the settings icon to open up the tab's settings. From there you are able add/remove Allowed Users and update it to allow anyone with the link to your tab to view it! Sharing tabs works the same way that sharing recipes do.

When you share a tab with someone, they will get access to view every recipe in the tab that you own. They will not be able to see recipes in the tab you do not directly own, even if you have permission to view the recipe.
